Last October 12, 2023, the National Resilience Council (NRC), in partnership with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda, Climate Change Commission of the Philippines (CCC), Philippine Commission on Women (PCW), Carlos P. Romulo Foundation, ARISE Philippines, Women’s International Network on Disaster Risk Reduction (WIN DRR), and SM Prime Holdings, honored outstanding women leaders during the Philippine Resilience Awards for Women – Awarding Ceremony at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
Hosted by Ms. Danielle de Castro of WIN DRR Philippines, the program started with a message of support from the Office of Senate President Pro-Tempore Loren Legarda. Afterwards, the Selection Committee, headed by Dr. Ma. Teresita Pastor-Medado and Atty. Rachel Anne Herrera, were recognized for their unwavering efforts and commitment in selecting this year’s awardees.
The ceremony recognized ten (10) exceptional women that have shown their strong commitment and leadership in the field of disaster risk reduction and resilience. The awards were presented by Secretary Robert E.A. Borje of CCC, Maria Kristine Josefina G. Balmes, Deputy Executive Director of PCW, and Silvestre Barrameda Jr., Executive Director of the NRC.
To acknowledge their efforts on the community level, the awardees, Ms. Collado and Ms. Bogñalbal were given the Accelerator Fund for Grassroots Organizations to continue their sustainable practices and promote eco-friendly technologies in their respective communities.
Founded in 2013 under the leadership of Senator Loren Legarda, the Philippine Resilience Awards serves as a source of inspiration for local leaders dedicated to building climate and disaster resilient communities. This year’s awarding ceremony highlighted the exceptional undertakings and projects led by remarkable women leaders in the field of climate and disaster resilience.
