Women continue to play a vital role in strengthening Disaster Risk Governance and building resilient communities. On June 2, 2026, the Executive Director of the National Resilience Council Foundation (NRF) represented the organization at the Inter-Regional Dialogue on Women’s Leadership for Resilient Societies.
The dialogue served as a platform to strengthen cooperation among the international community and advance women’s leadership in risk-informed decision-making, inclusive governance, and community resilience. Through this initiative, participating countries shared insights and best practices that contribute not only to more effective disaster risk management but also to broader regional stability and sustainable development.

During his presentation, the Executive Director highlighted NRF’s commitment to empowering women in Disaster Risk Governance by creating opportunities, fostering partnerships, and providing platforms that enable women leaders to develop and implement resilience-building programs in their communities.
He also showcased the Philippine Resilience Awards (PRA), a recognition program implemented by NRF in partnership with the Climate Change Commission (CCC). The PRA honors outstanding women and youth whose exemplary contributions have advanced disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and sustainable development across the country.

This engagement reaffirms the significant impact of women in shaping resilient societies and underscores the importance of ensuring their meaningful participation in disaster risk governance and decision-making processes at all levels.
