The National Resilience Council (NRC) continues to pioneer innovative approaches in climate and disaster resilience through its Adopt-A-City (AAC) Program, which redefines the role of corporations from mere donors to active partners in building safer communities. The program provides a platform for corporations to collaborate directly with local governments, academic institutions, and communities to implement initiatives that reduce vulnerability and transform risk landscapes.
Currently, the AAC Program works with 11 partner local government units (LGUs) that continuously champion resilience initiatives in their respective communities. To showcase and celebrate these efforts, NRC, with the support of Ms. Noelle Villanueva, an intern from Stanford University, featured four exemplary LGUs: Baguio City, Iligan City, Iloilo City, and the Province of Bataan.
The AAC Resilience Stories highlight each LGU’s progress, demonstrating how NRC and the AAC Program have supported local efforts in building adaptive and resilient communities. These narratives capture milestones and achievements that not only inspire but also serve as models for other LGUs and stakeholders across the country.
Stories are meant to be heard, shared, and celebrated by communities. These resilience journeys reflect the power of collaboration, innovation, and commitment in addressing climate and disaster risks.
