The National Resilience Council (NRC) joined the DRRM Innovation Exhibit as an exhibitor, showcasing its programs, operational practices, community-based approaches, technologies, and strategic partnerships that contributed to strengthening disaster resilience.
The NRC presented key initiatives including Adopt-A-City (AAC), SHIELD Programme, Project TRANSFORM, Governance for Climate and Disaster Resilience (Gov-CDR), Philippine Resilience Awards (PRA), and its partnership with ARISE Philippines. Resilience stories from AAC and Sambayanihan Caselets from SHIELD were also shared, highlighting how multi-stakeholder collaboration translated resilience principles into action at the community level.
The exhibit also became a space for meaningful exchanges with partners and organizations, including DSWD, Save the Children, PDRF, Philippine Red Cross, DOST, and other stakeholders. Discussions explored opportunities for collaboration, including the potential integration of NRC’s DRR learning modules into Project LAWA at BINHI, as well as the importance of breaking silos among LGUs and strengthening cross-cutting approaches to resilience.

Through the Resilience Game, participants revisited the fundamentals of the Risk Equation—Hazard, Exposure, Vulnerability, and Capacity—while also challenging common misconceptions such as the use of “natural disasters” instead of “natural hazards.” These engagements reinforced an important lesson: resilience begins with understanding the fundamentals and grows through collaboration, inclusion, and collective action.
From sharing programs to learning from partners, the NRC’s participation demonstrated that building resilience was not a one-sector effort. It was a shared responsibility—one that required communities, government, civil society, and the private sector to work together toward a safer, more resilient Philippines.
