The NRC, along with the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO), ICTSI Foundation, and BPI Foundation, officially launched the Barangay Resilience BINGO Scorecard (BRBS) in 19 barangays in Manila. 

During the launch, NRC Resilience Analyst, Ms. Maria Theresa Joy Rocamora, highlighted the importance of using scientific methods in understanding and assessing risks and existing capacities accurately. Mr. Christian John V. Evangelista, Chief of the  Research and Planning Division of MDRRMO presented an in-depth analysis of Manila’s specific risks and discussed how advanced equipment and technologies can be utilized for evidence-informed decision-making at the community level. 

Complementing these S&T inputs, the BRBS serves as a gamified but impactful leadership and governance tool, empowering barangays to translate scientific data into actionable programs and interventions across the resilience pillars such as human development, environment, local economy, infrastructure, and human security. This pilot initiative is envisioned to inspire similar efforts in other barangays in Manila, and potentially nationwide, contributing to a more disaster-resilient Philippines.
