LOOK: NRC, UNDP, SHIELD Consortium Partners attend the 1st Annual Stakeholders Forum
Hosted by Australian Government, the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the National Resilience Council (NRC), together with Strengthening Institutions and Empowering Localities against Disasters and Climate Change (SHIELD) Programme Consortium partners, attended the first Annual SHIELD Stakeholders Forum last November 14, 2023 in Park Inn by Radisson, Quezon City.
With the theme, “Local Resilience in Action: Forging Alliances, Empowering Communities,” the Forum highlighted the call for unity, collaboration, and the empowerment of local communities towards challenges of climate change and disaster risk.
“It is imperative to make the strategic shift to amplify the power of the private sector and the civil society organizations to realize our collective resilience vision,” said Silvestre Z. Barrameda Jr., Executive Director of the NRC.
The Forum’s objective was to enable learning and exchange among its partners and stakeholders and deepen the necessary role of national and local actors in creating secure, prepared, and resilient communities.
The SHIELD Programme aims to accelerate resilience-building efforts at the local level by collaborating with multiple stakeholders to unlock financing and implement risk-informed and inclusive resilience actions. The NRC leads the Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (MSP) component as the main delivery mechanism of the program.
