ICYMI: The National Resilience Council attended and participated in the Multi-Stakeholder Consultation organized by the Climate Change Commission PH last November 17, 2023, in preparation for the 28th Conference of Parties (COP28) under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
Various stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, as well as civil society, actively contributed their insights, sharing valuable knowledge to create the Philippine government’s stance on climate action workstreams set to be discussed at the current COP28 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
The NRC’s Science Resilience Fellow, Dr. Rosa T. Perez, shared her expertise for the Loss and Damage workstream, underlining the importance of a comprehensive approach that extends beyond dealing with immediate climate consequences.
As the highest decision-making body of the UNFCCC, the COP plays a necessary role in reviewing the Convention’s implementation, monitoring emission inventories and national obligations of State parties, and proposing essential interventions to intervene on the challenges of climate change. The Conference started last November 30 and will end on December 12, 2023.
