In a compelling virtual presentation during the 2025 Resilient Local Government Units Program (RLGUP) Colloquium, Hon. Frederick W. Siao, Mayor of Iligan City, highlighted the city’s strategic efforts in disaster resilience and sustainable development. Titled “The Road to Resilience: Transforming Iligan’s Challenges into Progress,” the presentation reflected Iligan’s evolving approach to risk governance, emphasizing innovation, inclusive partnerships, and long-term sustainability. Mayor Siao took the opportunity to recognize the invaluable contributions of the private sector, whose support has been instrumental in advancing the city’s resilience agenda. He noted, “Through the Adopt-A-City program initiative, we are not just responding to risk—we are transforming our city into a model of proactive governance, innovation, and community-driven solutions.”
Representing Mayor Siao in the panel discussion was Ms. Armien Alorro, Head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), who provided deeper insights into Iligan’s localized strategies for risk reduction and climate adaptation.
