Roundtable Discussion with Resilience Champions

by

The Private Sector Alliance for Disaster Resilient Societies (ARISE) in the Philippines, SM Prime and the National Resilience Council (NRC) organized the Roundtable Discussion with Resilience Champions to raise the awareness and interest of stakeholders from the private sector and academe on building resilient businesses and communities.

Guests are invited to learn firsthand from experts Mr. Dale Sands of ARISE and Dr. Wei-Sen Li of the APEC Emergency Preparedness Capacity Building Center (EPCC), who have a wide range of expertise in disaster risk reduction and resilience.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Mr. Dale Sands, before joining ARISE as Co-Chair, led the collaboration between AECOM and IBM that developed the Disaster Resilience Scorecard for Cities—a tool used for the UNISDR Making Cities Resilient Campaign—and the evaluation of the resilience of small and medium enterprises in New Orleans 11 years after Hurricane Katrina.

Dr. Wei-Sen Li, meanwhile, is the Executive Director of APEC-EPCC, which promotes collaborative efforts on improving resilience against natural hazards. He also serves as the Secretary General of the National Science and Technology Center for Disaster Reduction (NCDR) where he leads international collaborations and research on urban disasters and disaster risk management. NCDR is Chinese Taipei’s technical adviser for disaster prevention and reduction.
