4th World Congress on Disaster Management

by

The World Congress on Disaster Management (WCDM) is an event by the Disaster Management Initiatives and Convergence Society (DMICS)—a civil society initiative in India raising awareness and understanding of disaster risks and disaster risk reduction (DRR) measures—that aims to promote the integration of science, policy and practice in addressing DRR and resilience challenges.

The event serves to gather representatives from national, provincial and local governments, UN bodies, scientific and academic institutions, civil society organizations, private sector and media and to elevate the conversation on disaster risk reduction and management.

The 4th WCDM was organized in partnership with the Government of Maharashtra, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT B) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). For 2019, the main focus of the congress was to come up with possible solutions to the challenges of implementing the 2030 Development Agenda.
